Purpose of the Capoeira "Cordão de Ouro" in the Cedar Valley, Iowa: Our mission is to provide Capoeira as an activity that will inspire lifelong learning and empowerment for the improvement of a more equal, just, and healthy society. Capoeira seeks to enhance the opportunities and outlets of empowerment offered to youth and people of all ages, for the improvement of our community's health. What we do: Capoeira is a program that enables empowerment in its several dimensions: physical, spiritual, emotional, mental and social through a unique learning environment. People from all ages and places come together to be creative and challenge themselves through martial arts, music, acrobatics and dance. Our program will offer students the chance of learning about Brazilian history, physical movement, acrobatics, music, self-expression, and positive attitude. Capoeira also strives to teach respect, responsibility, safety/security, cleverness/street-smarts, and liberty/freedom. The Cordão de Ouro Capoeira- Cedar Valley offers performances, workshops, Master classes, lectures and long-term programs Annually the group hosts an international Capoeira conference that brings people from many states and also from Brazil. email us: francesca@littlebrazil.org
